How to Find a Tutor...
I love teaching my students in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV!
Here's a glimpse of what my students and I have been doing for the past year -- Tutoring in...
phonics based instruction, remedial reading, reading comprehension, writing, cursive writing lessons, vocabulary building, spelling, learning correct and clear enunciation in speech-- all through language therapy tutoring and art.
The children I teach in Las Vegas:
Range from 4 years old to 16 years old.
The parents want to give their children a head-start jump into phonics and reading before entering Kindergarten or first grade for every advantage (build the neurons and become very well connected!)
Parents notice their children may have trouble with letter and number reversals which does not go away over time, (the sooner caught the better on helping the child and their self-esteem), dyslexia, dysgraphia, trouble focusing or difficulty with attention span, low self-esteem.
Because of the child's struggle which he/she doesn't know how to articulate, it may show up in some of the following behaviors: shyness, giving up, saying "I can't do that," or "I don't know how," avoids doing homework, struggles in grades, frustration, behavior problems, or they may become very social in school because they find success in their verbal strengths.
It becomes sheer survival for the child's self-esteem and self-worth which plummets quickly. Truth: the ego is very fragile.
I help rebuild families. The parents want the best for their child, and doesn't know where to begin. Often the child resists or rejects the parent's help. The child is very aware of the worry that the parent feels. They feel your anxiety. They feel your frustration. P.S. - You may not even verbalize it...but they know. They don't want to disappoint you.
My goal is to build trust and as much success as fast as possible. We work hard, and as fast as we can to retrain the brain and reach as many goals as possible as set by the parents. It is work.
Reiteration: It is work.
Because it is a lot of work and intense concentration, I reward my students. This reward system is discussed with the parents at the very beginning.
Parents also hire me just to tutor their child for an extra advantage, not necessarily because the child is struggling in any particular domain. I was hired to tutor and guide in a science project. The project lasted about 6 weeks as you can imagine! The student earned a score of 100, which is what I anticipated.
I also was asked to tutor two children in creating their dioramas for their language projects in school. The process was very educational for the children.

I seek to adapt to the parents desires: once a week, twice a week, three times a week, or every other week. The more we meet the better the results.
Some parents have experimented from moving their child's one hour sessions to one-and-a-half hour sessions, and have found it more productive. I am flexible, and we can always move it back down to one hour if the session is too long. It depends on each individual child.
Art Therapy:
Some parents wish me to teach art (did I tell you I also teach art?) once a week, every other week, or as an extra reward to enrich their child's life.
Art taps into the creative genius of a child, and is connected to our language sessions. We delve into practical life-teachings in which I use the art as my medium. It is also a stress-reliever, and helps children who may feel emotions of anger as a result from their frustrations.
The art component involves a progression of teaching sketching /drawing, watercolor and painting. I do not teach arts and crafts sessions.
I promote developing your child's natural genius.
